[The sounds of the forest get louder and louder. Murmurings and whispers and hooting and rustling, it seems to press in on COT from all sides]
COT
I don’t know what to do…
[Suddenly, all the sound stops. COT looks around and blinks in confusion. A lone voice comes from far away]
LEE
There’s no denying the relationship between altitude and air quality.
COT
Someone’s coming!
[COT dashes off and hides behind a tree. The mysterious speaker draws nearer]
LEE
As you go higher, the air becomes thinner. On certain mountaintops people become nearly unable to breathe. There’s actually a maximum height at which -- it’s been proven -- no flying animal will go higher than around 6,500 meters.
[A mysterious red-haired girl, LEE, comes around a bend. COT sees her for the first time. She has a length of yarn tied around her forehead, with a metal spoon dangling down between her eyes, and she is chatting quite loudly and happily to herself]
LEE
Which is nothing compared to the distance of the moon! So the question remains: if there are people on the moon, what are they breathing?

Oh, there Lee is. Now the story can get started.
I have another cool update, we've finished our first bonus comic! And it moves, too! It's called Toothy Grin, and it shows the way you have to deal with scary things in life. It's actually based on a famous Japanese ghost story that I'm really drawn to, because it's built into the story that the only way to get away is to trick the ghost, or outsmart her. The perfect task for our Field Guide heroes.
